Sociopath quotes: zombies

Do you ever feel as if the world is full of zombies? Mindless people who merely obey the dictates of society and their own emotions, showing no sign of rationality, letting others decide who and what they’re going to be in this life, regurgitating moral nostrums as if they were pearls of the highest wisdom, attacking those who are not like them and wanting desperately to turn all outsiders into exact replicas of themselves... ?

“...The purpose of man's life...is to become an abject zombie who serves a purpose he does not know, for reasons he is not to question.”

-- Ayn Rand

  1. And they teach these laws to adults using the same technique as you would use to teach a three year olds which I would say was ludicrous if it didn't seem to work so well for the majority. Add a catchy jiggle to it or mention God and everyone shakes their heads in agreement.

    3. But, that's inevitable, isn't it? The vast majority of people will simply not question the assumptions of their own culture. It's always been the few who have dared to do so.

Part of it has to do with the fact that a fish would hardly notice it's wet.
Conversations with most people bore me to no end. All they ever talk about is the stuff they have, and what they're going to do to try and get more stuff. And then, there are those who have dropped out, but are pursuing a kind of salvation in drugs and alcohol - constantly "tripping". Even more boring.
But that's the basis of how people understand themselves in North American society.

Imagine living in Aztec society. Everybody just assumes these wars are necessary and we must keep sacrificing people to the Sun, otherwise the sun will cease to exist. Question that one at your own risk. But the point is everybody in that society just assumed that was true, assumed that whoever captured more prisoners in their youth was a more valuable member of society, and generally just never questioned it.

  4. Honestly, I think most people are fairly rational. They simply have different values and base their decisions on a different set of fundamental beliefs. In my opinion, it's a huge mistake to write off behavior or beliefs you don't understand as irrational. That kind of arrogance will lead to the same kind of retardation you accuse the rest of the world of, that they accuse one another of, that you in fact are already accused of. Everyone thinks their worldview is completely rational and that everyone who doesn't agree is a retard. You're part of the zombie pack if you think this way, but there's really nothing wrong with that. It's part of being human.

I try not to make value-based judgments about peoples' beliefs, because ultimately there's little separating theirs from my own. I focus instead on what I want, and what beliefs and such will make it easier to attain. If that requires adopting a new frame of mind, so be it. In the end, I don't really care how subjectively rational or irrational it is. What matters to me is its efficacy for the task at hand.

  5. Peter Pan said, “Honestly, I think most people are fairly rational. They simply have different values and base their decisions on a different set of fundamental beliefs.”

I agree with this. I know, it’s always a little miraculous when that happens, isn’t it? I think it’s fair to say that all humans attempt to be rational, if by rational we mean merely thinking about how to accomplish what one believes is in his best interest, however they define that. So the issue isn’t that most people don’t think or that most people aren’t trying to make a decent life for themselves by using their reason to the best of their ability. To me anyway, the issue is insight, and by insight I mean “seeing within”. I think it’s possible to be extremely intelligent and yet blind to the inner workings of your own consciousness. In my opinion, lacking insight is the real liability; lacking insight is what creates “zombies”, so to speak.

There is of course the issue of whether those fundamental beliefs are the most accurate representations of reality one can find at any given moment and whether one allows emotion to dictate which beliefs will serve as fundamental and why. But that’s another subject.

  6. My point is that a belief that morals exist as an absolute is no less credible than a belief that morals do not exist as an absolute. There is no evidence to support either position. It's a completely subjective, pointless, stupid debate. Who the fuck cares? How rational is it to waste energy giving a shit? What matters is how the belief serves you.

  8. “Uh...no, no it is not an issue, a great coversation, but not an issue.”

I prefer to be as honest with myself as I can be, which is why this would be an issue for me. Clarity of mind is one of my few real values. Even so, I truly get that self honesty doesn’t matter much to A LOT of people. Now if we’re talking about being honest with others… that is a horse of another color. I’ll put it like this: I’m as honest with other people as I think I need to be.

“Since it only matters to the people who consider their morals, ideals or beliefs as total and absloute.”

This isn’t true. Creating a relatively accurate worldview is also important to people who don’t consider their morals, ideals or beliefs as total and absolute and for people without those things.

  9. Accuracy is over-rated.

    Functionality is what's important.

I don't care if I'm 150% wrong, if my current worldview works better than the next guy's, I'm doing something right. He can take his "accurate" worldview and shove it up his ass.

Sometimes beliefs offer a shortcut to a favorable end result, for all the wrong reasons. Sometimes, those reasons can't even be discerned. In cases like that, I say fuck accuracy. I'll take incidental success over deliberate and calculated mediocrity any day.

One can't allow reality to get in the way of their success.

Trying new things without fully understanding how it all works? That's the opposite of insanity, my friend.

  17. It's not like most of them have a choice. They spend twelve years of their life in a sub-par education system and have the choice it either go into a lifetime of debt, or flip burgers. The one's that take the college route have to bust their ass off and get a good job when they're finally done, and the ones that didn't bother have a perpetual glass ceiling overhead.

They both wake up and medicate with stimulants just to get through the day, and then take downers when they get home so stress and financial burdens don't put them in an existential crisis of how meaningless their life is.

And the lucky ones, if you can call them that, have kids.

Cynicism and hyperbole aside, it's a society that produces people like this, not empathy, or emotions, or some other neurotypical short-coming. You want to talk about sociopathic sense of entitlement? As far as I'm concerned, wanting more and wanting better for less is a very real entitlement. Our culture is overworked, underpaid, and taken for granted. Do you honestly believe you'll get more than useless zombies in such an environment?

    1. "It's not like most of them have a choice"

I thought you kind of intelligent until this... everyone has choices. There are always alternatives. The alternatives may be bleak some times but they are there. As for what you speak of, people choosing to stay in a half-ass minium wage job or go get a life, well... that is all about ambition. Alexander Hmailton was an orphan on a caribbean island in the 18th century and managed a shipping company out of St Croix by the time he was a teen. An uneducated man, he traveled to the colonies and graduated from both College of New Jersey (Princeton) and the King's College (Columbia) by his early 20s... children today have many more choices than he, but Hamilton had drive.

It's initiative and drive these young people lack, not choices.

      Delete
    2. Comparing an average person to Alexander Hamilton is not realistic, Tom, but I get your point.

Some people are too chicken to take risks, or too dumb to see opportunity. You have to understand, your mind sits on a perch above that of most others. To expect them to be held to the same standard of intellect and experience is unrealistic.

You claim you're a psychopath, right? No fear? No inhibition? How can you possibly know what it's like for them, what they experience?

      Delete
    3. "You claim you're a psychopath, right? No fear? No inhibition? How can you possibly know what it's like for them, what they experience?"

I "claim" (do) show traits/characteristics associated with ASPD... I have never claimed to be a psycho. Such a "scarey" word. I have said the career path I chose is one a psycho path can flourish in though. I have been very successful at what I do.

You are right though. I too often forget that other people are not me. As egotistical as I am, I get very critical of myself quiet often. And I can be 1000 Xs harder on everyone else.

  18. The Malignant Narcissist Mother
"Mirror, mirror on the wall. Who is the fairest of them all?"

The MN mother has to be the fairest. However, there is a twist. The child has to make the MN mother look good. How can the child do that when the MN mother cripples the child, so the child will, always, be inferior to the MN mother?

Therein lies the rub? How can the child be both a cripple and a star?

I went out to lunch with one lady and asked her about her childhood.

Her mother told her she could do and become whatever she wanted. Her mother told her she was pretty and smart. She has, always, been a confident person, but she is not arrogant, at all.

I realized that my low self esteem is just my thoughts, as I( and everyone) has as much inherent worth as this lady.

I have to keep forcing myself out, as I really want to stay in, but know I will never change, if I do.

    6. Yeah, my mothers opinion is often changing I am stretched from a brainless imbecile to a charming genius. All my failures are backed up with my mother telling me that it wouldn't have happened if I would have listened to her, all my achievements of course are highly influenced by her...
She is always right, fair and whatever she says is true, every act of her is the best there is. Even if I prove to her that something is her fault, it wouldn't have happened if someone else...

However, unlike Monica I managed to ignore her when possible, probably my biggest complaint would be about the time wasted while arguing, but she never abused me sexually, but she were a teacher long time before I was even born and that makes her even more annoying.

P.s. I really am no narcissist... not that anyone cares... weirdly connected brain ftw...

  21. Hey Virus!!!! To pick up where we left off yesterday I will answer this:

"Rich, do not get dicouraged... it was just a dream, but it may be showing some of your anxeities of the difficult road you know you have ahead. You seem to be a fairly bright fellow and I can only imagine where your intelligence might fall if measured. Has it? I'm sure the drugs haven't been kind to your brain (I think of the ice-cream scoop stories I always hear told) but you still are smart enough you need to get off the junk, wise enough to know it's difficult, and shrewd enough to put your self into somewhat of an isolation to assist in your growth. How was the day? No sickness, hopefully."

Thank you! I know I can get off of the xanax, I just need to do it slowly....... The methadone is alot harder for me and honestly I dont even think of coming off of it, for now at least.

Interesting that you bring up sickness....... Usually when coming off of xanax I get really sick, kinda like dope sick from opiates where you feel like you have the Flu and cant stop throwing up, it lasts for a good 10-14 days before it starts to get better and it is miserable, that is why Iam trying to take it slow....... My doctors appointment is on Friday of this week, 2 days away, and I will have to ask him to bring my presription down to #60 2mg xanax a month instead of #90, my methadone doc said if I get 90 he is gonna start dropping my methadone dose 10mg's a week until iam at 50-60 mg's a day of methadone if I dont quit and now Iam on 110mgs of methadone a day so I really dont wanna get it cut in half.

It is strange, starting yesterday my tooth in the back of my mouth start KILLING ME (and still is, but the methadone does decrease the pain and iam also using Benzocaine cream which numbs the tooth/nerves and since 2 of my back teeth are broken, the cream just sits in there PERFECTLY) and I woke up and felt like my glands in my throat are hurting/swollen...... I dont know if it has anything to do with dropping my xanax, but it seems weird that it would happen at exactly the same time.

I had a bad cold and cough last month and when I went to go see my doc for xanax I asked him to write me some Amoxicillin if he could, so he checked me out and wrote me for 3 pills a day for a week, but I started feeling better and I didnt take them, I just got them filled and saved them, so thankfully I have the Amoxicillin from last month (which I got for free at publix!) and I just this morning took my first pill, so I guess I will take all 21 of them throughout the week (1 every 8 hrs) and see if I get better. My mother also feels the same way just not as bad so it may be something going around.

Thank you for being so supportive and saying you think Iam a bright person :). I definatly dont think the drugs have been good for my brain (of course I know they arent, iam not in denial) but I dont know if I lost much intelligence, I think it just has held me back from learning more things and expanding my knowledge.

You are a good man Virus, I thank you for this kind of "Talk Therapy", it helps me see things through other peoples eyes and I like that, it also helps me gain more insight. I don't know if this has already come up, but have you thought about becoming an addictions councillor down the track? You could help a lot of people going through the same hell you did.

    3. Caffeine. I am addicted to caffeine. I get extremely bad headaches by noon if I do not get my couple cups of coffee in the morning(only headaches I have ever had). I say it's an addiction because of the physical effect. I can take coffee or leave it, and I don't drink sodas like Coke, Pepsi, or any of that trash. Other than that... this place seems to be an addiction, LOL!

I have done drugs. I came in the Corps when I was 24 ( I have a waiver in my book). Before that I went to a State University for Art. There were a lot of "interesting" people out there. Much, much partying. But... here we go:

I started drinking when I was 13. Came in the house all kinds of fucked up. Falling down, breaking shit... it got ugly. After the ass whooping, my father sat me down and explained how alcoholism runs in the family and that if I wanted to find alcohol I was going to do it. He knew he could not stop me, but if I ever came in his house and acted like an ass again he would kill me... I believed me. So I never got caught again.

I drank fairly heavy throughout high school and college. I stayed away from drugs until my senior year of high school. Then a buddy of mine got me high off some "dirt" weed by smoking out of a "Yoohoo" can. I loved it. With in three months I was eating shrooms and playing with acid. I never got into the coke, heroin, or real hard shit... I watched those drugs fuck up a cousin of mine and wanted NO part of them.

So, I played around with mary-j and psychodelics through my college years and just before I came into the Corps. Then I quit. I have a drink every now and then and I have been to the points of black outs off hard liquor since I have "matured", but I can take alcohol or leave it.

I take great account of my body these days. I am as strong as I have ever been, just as quick, and much more knowledgable. Rich, I train to kill. That's not suppose to sound super cool (although it might), but that's the truth. I run a lot, execise daily, and ground fight every chance I get. I found other avenues to put my interests.

Rich, these words you used all in a single post where you told us about one thing - your bad tooth. Do you see what you're doing here? You don't just have an addiction problem, you have an obsession as well.

This obsession is likely due to drugs having been your only coping mechanism for your entire adolescent and adult life. You need professional help and support in getting off drugs because you have not had any chance to learn how to live without them.

    6. This post by Anon 2:21 speaks to me. I hear what you are going through, Rich.

You took drugs to deal with the pain. Now, the drugs are a prison and the pain is still under it.

I did not have the drugs but I have the pain and all that goes with it such as anxiety and depression.

Anon made a great point about coping mechanisms.

I am forcing myself to get out there, in real life, and face situations.

Life is forcing me, but I am accepting it and trying to embrace it.

However, the whole thing is about coping skills, as this Anon said.

Our fears are ghosts of BS. However, we can only know that by going out there and seeing it, which is the very last thing we want to do.

When you get off the drugs, I will help you with the next steps, as I am taking them now.

    7. WHOA, WHOA, WHOA Anon........ First of all, Benzocaine and Anbesol are the same thing, Anbesol is just the Non generic name for Benzocaine..... Iam taking Amoxicill (which DOES NOT GET YOU HIGH AT ALL, Iam sick, my tooth feels infected, and my glands are all swollen in my throat along with sinus problems. I didnt drink a bottle of arbor mist, if you would go back and read I drank 1/3rd of a bottle and since a bottle of arbor mist is only 24 Oz's and 6% Alcohol, that means I had not even the amount of a full beer. Iam on my 2nd bud light and I took 3 #2mg Xanax to boost my methadones painkilling effects and ability and it has actually worked, Iam still in pain but iam not screaming in agony like I was 2 hours ago.

I didnt not use ANYTHING in the apinkiller department besides methadone, which iam prescirbed oncea day for methadone maintenance, I take 110mgs in the morning. I HAVE USED no painkillers or heroin, and even if I did, I wouldnt be able to FEEL THEM, so it would be pointless. For anybody who is on the methadone clinic and is over 40mg's of methadone a day, it will block the effects of ALL OPIATES, even if you shot heroin all day you would feel NOTHING because the methadone got into your opiates receptors first, like a lock with a broken key in it when you can fit any other keys in it to open it, that is how methadone works, that is why they give it to addicts because once they are on 40 mgs or more a day they CANNOT GET HIGH on opiate related painkillers because the methadone is already in your receptors and sticks to them better than ANY OTHER painkiller. And the cough drop with an oral anesthetic was nothing but a HALLS COUGH DROP with 7.5mg's of MENTHOL in it, menthol is an oral pain reliever.

I had a bad tooth yeaterday too but took nothing but the pain was so intense today, like sharp pain, like somebody jamming a knife into my nerves of my tooth and twisting it around, if you have never had SEVERE dental pain you will NEVER REALTE, but the people here who have experience severe dental pain know exactly how much it hurts...... It hurt yesterday but didnt hurt bad enough for me to take anything, but this morning I woke up a 4am and was in so much pain I couldnt go back to sleep and it only got worse with time.

I understand what you are saying about my addiction from the past and how I ahevnt had a chance to learn without them. But my mother offered me to go to the dentist but there would be NO PURPOSE, all he would do for today would either prescribing me a numbing gel/cream (which I already have) or prescirbed me Vicodin or percocet until he could pull my tooth, but since iam on 110mg's of methadone a day, and 40mgs of methadone or more fully blocks the effects of any other painkillers, even the stongest, Heroin, than there is no reason to go get painkillers because they wouldnt do a thing for me.

I think it is because iam sick and my tooth may be infected, also Iam very hot (almost fever terratory) and my throat gland are swollen and painful.

I get what you are saying about it being my only coping mechanism and you are right, but Iam not going to live in EXTREME pain if I can make it go away. Plus, Iam takeing the Amoxicillin (An antibiotic with no properties to get you high) so that should help me too. This is just a temporary thing to mask the pain until it gets down to a level I can handle. The pain was so bad it woke me up last night and I only got three hours of sleep (probably less cause I woke up a couple times too).....

Once my tooth pain gpoes away and the Amoxicillin starts working, I wont be drinking anymore..... People like you who arent opiate addicts can take a vicodin or percocet from the doctor if you have EXTREME tooth pain, but I can cauise aim onmmethadone and t BLOCKS IT, so I have to find other things to kill the pain.

    8. (Part 2 of 2)

PS- Have you ever had SEVERE TOOTH PAIN or remeber when you were "teething" when you were growing up? It feels about 5X as worse as teething, at least for me....... Iam not going to be drinking alcohol once my tooth pain subsides........ It is the only painkiller that is effective that I can use, the reason I used the xanax is because xanx boosts the effects of methadone AND ALCOHOL, which in the end will ultimatly lead me to be in less pain......

Trust me, if you felt the pain I was feeling earlier, you would grab the NEAREST apin pill like percocet or vicodin just for some relief, iam not saying it is the right thing to do, and it isint, but it is the only thingthat WORKS FOR ME without going to the dentist and getting some numbing gel which I already have at home, and even if he gave me Vicodin or Percocet, which the dentist I go to passes out like candy when you have pain, it wouldnt have done anything for me because opiates besides methadone are BLOCKED FROM MY SYSTEM.......

What you you do if you had EXTREME SEVERE tooth pain where it feels like somebody is jamming a knife into your nevers and twisting it around, and you have NO OPTION to take painkillers, and the anbesol (benzocaine)stopped controlling the pain? If you were feeling what I was feeling, I guarantee you would do SOMETHING TO STOP IT..... And alcohol is one of the best painkillers in the world with an adequate dose of it.......
