A favorite childhood game of mine. Shall we give it a go?
Dear sir,My response:
I just stumbled across your website. I hadn't really considered it but given what I tell you, what do you think is the chance? I don't really care either way but that would be funny.
I used to kill wasps when I was young. When I was 18 I caught a hedgehog in my garden, stabbed it right through and poured boiling water over it, hahaha lol. So I stabbed it again...then I impaled it with a shard of wood and threw it into my neighbour's garden. It was squealing for like an hour. When I saw its little face it almost looked human.
I used to get angry and kick my dogs. I really like them though.
When I was a little older, I was put into a mental hospital for telling a girl I was going to kill her. She pissed me off. I was never diagnosed though.
Past 5 years I've been studying law at one of the top universities in the world. It was only meant to take 3. But I just disappeared for two of them and did drugs and fucked prostitutes.
I've bled my parents dry. I get probably 1k dollars per week from my parents. They are idiots. I've spent it all on drugs and alcohol. I only just got internet cause I'm bored.
I've been caught drink driving a few times...idk. I had a job for a few months but I just left randomly during the day without telling anyone. Lost that, my dad got me that job so he looks like a retard now lol.
I don't have any real friendships. I cut everyone out when an important social circle dies. I've never been able to maintain a friendship.
But I would never consider myself a sociopath because I can get very angry about girls. When I know they like me I assume they are 'mine' and if they do otherwise I rage, sometimes for months. I can be quite obsessive. I think I'm just fucked up...what do you think?
Yours faithfully,
I don't think that getting "angry" at girls precludes the possibility of you being a sociopath. A more predictive indicator is that you seem apathetic about a vilified diagnosis, e.g., "I don't really care either way but that would be funny." Should we post your story on the blog and see what others think?
Not really caring about maintaining friendships, sketchy work history, hurting animals... you sound familiar to me, except for the dropping out of uni for a while (I've been consistent with my studies).
ReplyDeleteI have no clue about whether or not I'm a sociopath either.
Just do want works for you and ignore the labels.
After reading classic traits of a serial killer the guy writes a mini biog with them to send to you? Where's the "my mom used to lock me in the cellar"? If not though eat lots of chocolate and stay in the sun until your 40's..
ReplyDeleteI have an observation Id like to throw out there to see what others think...theres alot of reference to "animal cruelty" when sociopaths are discussed. Isnt it more likely that animal cruelty would be an indicator of psychopathic sadism as opposed to necessarily being "antisocial"?
ReplyDeleteThere is generally no way to tell whether such stories are true, or merely the imaginative inventions of a sad, repressed individual that dreams of being a sociopath because it hurt to be himself. Many of those who comment here are very protective of their sociopath identity (some form of pride perhaps?) and generally distrustful toward other individuals with a different sociopath experience. However, we must acknowledge the fact that the story sounds too textbook: bright young man with a sadistic streak and lack of restraint.
ReplyDeleteHowever, why such anger? Anger towards girls that "belong" to him? Anger towards the parents? Anger towards animals? I think there is a difference between not caring about someone's misfortune and actually caring about them being miserable and trying to induce it.
The story also lacks depth. If you are in a good law school, I suppose you can articulate your thoughts and psychology a lot better. You must have done a lot of introspection and must possess analytical thinking. It seems unlikely you would describe yourself as "I think I'm just fucked up."
Therefore with some confidence I would say the letter is shamelessly made up.
" Isnt it more likely that animal cruelty would be an indicator of psychopathic sadism as opposed to necessarily being "antisocial"?"
ReplyDeletecaptain obvious strikes again.
Sounds more like, "I have the fantasy of being a serial killer, so I have clumsily narrated my supposed thoughts to you." This person's buttons are too obvious to be a sociopath.

ReplyDeleteI had the same thought. This guy is not telling a wink of truth. It has too much Text-book references.
I think he might be a narcissist. Trying to make up lies to make us be in awe.
"I get probably 1k dollars per week" He is exaggerating right here. trying to impress us.
I call B.S.
wow this sounds just life my bf and i always had the feeling that he was kind of antisocial which is how i found "me's" blog. it sounds lke most people here think its a fake though. i wonder what "me" thinks of it.
ReplyDeletebtw me, your blog has been really helpful for me. thanks for all the insight!
"captain obvious strikes again."
ReplyDeleteWell, if its so obvious, why doesnt the general public stop using it as an indicator of sociopathy & start using it as an indication of sadistic psychopaths. Not all S's that Ive met have been cruel to animals. Yet its always a given.
Dear Sir,
ReplyDeleteI was going to send you a mail describing the picture perfect portrait of the psychopath stereotype, all-the-while denying that I care at every opportunity. My goal was to convince you that I was a psychopath so that you could convince me that my life doesn't suck. I thought it was a great plan, but after putting a little more thought into it, I realized that it's just moronic.
Let's not beat around the bush. I'll tell you I'm a psychopath, then you tell me I'm a psychopath, and we both go on with our lives. I'm going to try to use up around the same amount of text, so I feel this conversation has some legitimacy. Sound fair?
Ok, here we go.
I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath.
I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath.
I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath.
Yours faithfully,
Psychopath
Your not a psychopath so shut it before I show you what a psycho looks like I will cut your face off with a dull butcher no nice dip it into hydrochloric acid and put whatever is left back on your face and staple the remnants back on
DeleteKevin: "I think he might be a narcissist."
ReplyDeleteAfter combing through the comments and thinking about the post some more, I'm led to also think that.I think we should wait to see what "part 2" is, though.
Peter also has a humorous but dead-on point, as well.
Pandora: "Isnt it more likely that animal cruelty would be an indicator of psychopathic sadism as opposed to necessarily being "antisocial"?"
I'd agree. The animal cruelty (and some other symptoms) seem to be thrown in there as a "most of the time, but not always" sort of thing.
I think he's just an attention-seeking creep.

ReplyDelete...and no else who posts here is?

You know, I'm not at all opposed to the idea of spreading misinformation just to save my own ass. Why would I want anyone to know how to better identify me?
...and no else who posts here is?
ReplyDeleteNope, never said that. Lots of us are. You got my attention now. Happy?
lol
ReplyDeleteDon't listen to these bullies. I believe in you, anonymous reader.
ReplyDeleteDear Yours faithfully,
ReplyDeleteYou have a lot of anger and obsess over the attention of women. Your story bores me because it's not about me. LOL
Seriously though, why do 'important social circles die'? Is it when you fail to be the center or attention?
I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a psychopath, please tell me I'm a psychopath. I'm a
ReplyDeletei'm in love :)
Now now Zoe, don't get too excited. I'm liable to switch back to random insults and vulgarities at any moment.

ReplyDeleteThis is the start of a beautiful friendship with benefits.
zoe just likes to hang with the 'socio' crowd because it makes her feel special and less fucked up for being a loony. having pet tigers is exhilarating and empowering isn't it?
ReplyDeleteThis is the start of a beautiful friendship with benefits.
ReplyDeleteIshtar darling, I see no point in a friendship without benefits.

ReplyDeletes'ok.

ReplyDeleteEither M.E. is extremely gullible or he's fucking with you all.
ReplyDeleteLets look at a comment from a post titled "Am I a Sociopath? (part 1)" (http://www.sociopathworld.com/2009/06/am-i-sociopath-part-1.html)

It makes me so mad when people hurt animals. Can't you be sociopaths without wanting to hurt the animals? They're so precious and adorable. I just searched hedgehogs and I was staring at their pictures for a little while. Their little faces are so cute.
ReplyDeleteFor the most part sociopaths relationships are a one night stand or long term. The long term partner is based on someone who's useful and valuable. They thrive on confrontation. They have purpose in everything they are doing. They use people. They are not afraid to abandon you coldly and to her face reguardless of how it makes you hurt. Ask anyone in here who's broken up with a sociopath.
ReplyDeletePeople who have low self esteem and abandonment issues tend to have short burst relationships that last till the infactuation wears off. They have commitment issues with men who are not dominant. They have lack of initiative so that is a need they want filled, but they seek men who don't because they are afraid that they will abandon them and leave them hurt. They are right in a sense because they are extremely vulenrable when with a dominant man. This is why they say nice guys finish last. They are afraid of confrontation, and engage in passive aggressive behaviour compulsively. When they are alone they go on a downward deppressing spiral so they need attention.
She said that men cried to her in the break up. This shows the type of men she seeks. Everyone has a type and I'm sure she didn't break her pattern. She tends towards weak men and finds them undesirable in a matter of months. Fits right in.
Another statement was that they would call her and ask her out, and she would lie to them. Why lie? Why pick up the phone at all? She felt compelled to explain why she wouldn't hang out with them. Being unconfrontational she lied to spare his feelings not to make some plot. Its obvious. What else would you gain.
Another statement said she would fake crying if they broke up with her. To what end? The reality was she was crying for real and has rewritten history to delude herself that she's in control.
Another statement says she would comfort her crying ex. Why? What sociopath can stand the pathetic sound of crying anyway? Maybe if something was at the end of this trail of tears, but no. No, instead we are led to believe it was a diabolical plot to get men to break up with her. Why not say you're now a lesbian? How bout fucking a man while he's walking in? Why make him break up at all? She wants to spare their feelings, and that's the only logical explanation.
I smell a 'poseur psycho-sociopath' with junior high school writing skills. I thought you psycho-sociopaths were endowed with at least, above average intelligence as part of your toolset of subtle manipulating charms. There was not even a hint of that wicked wit, that psycho-sociopaths are so famous for - as your innate self affirming confidence in retelling of your wickedness as a comedic parody Of a recent conquest. This person sounds more like a juvenile wanna be delinquent jerking off to his college bound big brother's ten year old Asian S & M.
