Fictional sociopaths: Don't trust the B in Apt 23

A reader sent me this article about a new television show.  From an article entitled: "Chloe From Don’t Trust The B In Apt 23 Could Be The Sociopathic BFF You Always Wanted":

Never in my life did I think I would actively pursue a sociopathic roommate that makes my life more challenging and more dangerous on a weekly basis. But after watching Don’t Trust The B in Apartment 23 this season I’m adding it to my list of “people I want in my life.”
***

There’s something magnetic about her character Chloe. Something that makes you root for her even after she does the unthinkable. Like taking in a foster child to use as a personal assistant or secretly selling June’s baking videos to a sexual festish site to make rent money. And yes, by the end of every episode she learns a lesson about morals and human decency. But never quite the right lesson.

It’s like if Danny Tanner lectured DJ Tanner about the evils of smoking cigarettes and she turnd to binge drinking instead. Chloe listens and Chloe comprehends and Chloe interprets the lesson in her own way. It’s magical and it’s slightly wrong and it’s something you rarely see on TV. And that’s exactly what makes it so refreshing.
***

How cool is it that there’s a female character on television who puts herself first. She may not always put herself first at the right time or in the right situations, but she always puts herself first. She knows what she wants and she does what she needs to do to get it done. Yes, she has moments where she tires to help June and James.

But if it comes down to her happiness or theirs, she’ll choose her happiness any day of the week. That’s what probably what makes her a sociopath, but it’s also what makes her some kind of backwards role model for women who are so used to pleasing everyone else in their lives.

After watching so many characters on TV like June, who are go-getters sacrificing their youth to acheive their career dreams, it’s so wonderful to see a character just enjoying her life. A character who exemplifies selfishness in its human form and reminds us that it’s okay to look out for yourself. It’s okay to care about yourself more than you care about others.

I confirmed this with my friend, that with regard to being friends with a sociopath, "the pros outweigh the cons."

  4. TNP: It started out hilarious , and now I'm afraid it's starting to "wash out", they're blurring the lines as june becomes self assured and chloe gets infected by june's feelings , I hope they won't end up making them meet in the middle ....that would suck.

    1. All shows have a pinnacle period, usually in the start or end of a season. What, were your born yesterday or something? That's entertainment.

      Delete
    2. That sounds terrible. Socio chloe shouldn't compromise her ideals without suitable compensation.

    3. Woohoo, Chloe is going to get somewhat nicer, June somewhat meaner. I mean, I appreciate that the moral lessons aren't your normal moral lessons, but it's still the same stupid tired format (which they try to spice up with Scrubs style asides and Van Der Beek). I hate that patronizing shit. If this is how every episode is going to be, the whole schtick is going to get old really fast.

      Delete
    4. But in the mean-time let's enjoy the novelty of it. Maybe they can spice it up by introducing a archetypal chloe to rally us against. Like an antagonist that both chloe and june have to use their strengths to defeat. That could be interesting for a spell.

  5. You can also get bored of the game of being dangerous. Meanies are as boring as goodies, and strongly dependent on each other. I remember once being present while the inmates in a detention center watched a mainstream film. They enjoyed it just like anybody else. They just sided with the criminals. Then I said to myself: what's so especial about the wild side?

  7. being selfish and pleasing only yourself is not a simple task..but I'm not talking about simple physical pleasure, like food, drugs, sex, etc. no I'm talking about to find what you want out of life and to go for it with total fearlessness and complete selfishness disregarding all others opinions is one of the hardest things to do. That's why sociopaths sometimes are the most successful people. What people think doesn't matter at all..bad opinions people saying things such as "oh you don't know what you're doing", "you're not that good", "who do you think you are"? For some people it deters them, for others it spurs them on and for socios it has no impact whatsoever..although some not so nice socios will DESTROY the person who thinks to challenge them. An ability to think outside the box is another ability socios have they will never look at things by the straight and narrow standards "stay within the lines, the lines are our friends" is antithetical to their innate nature and way of thinking. Ruthlessness... they can put on an act be the "good" guy but inside they will execute their will irrespective of how it impacts other human beings they won't hesitate.

These are qualities that normal people oftentimes wish they had. They work hard and envy the a**h**** guy who always gets ahead. But why does he? It's not because he's smarter, has a higher IQ, or is just more capable..it's because he has no limits;-) he just doesn't care, he's all in and life is a poker game. He doesn't give a s*** who you are, what you think of him, or if you're upset by what he does. He is incorruptible in a sense. True to only one ...himself.

    5. Empathy does not mean "correctly interpreting your own feelings". Nor does it mean "interpreting correctly what the others need, want and feel".

If that was true, then all high-functioning sociopaths are empathetic, and you have in effect changed the connotation of the word with regards to sociopathy, and changed the definition of sociopathy itself.

Because half the time he is not responding to anything regarding what anyone is saying or what the article is saying. If he is, he makes the connection so vague as if he expects the readers to fill in the blanks, but generally he just uses posts and comments as a jumping point to go off on whatever, and half the time it goes too far into the clouds. He spouts bits of wisdom with the assumption that he is enlightening people (although he's probably just enlightening himself, to be fair). He can't deal with people disagreeing with him, nor can he deal with people agreeing with him. He takes himself so seriously that he can't pick up on humor, although I've noticed him trying to convey a sense of humor the last couple of days, perhaps to prove something.

I notice him doing the same 'empathy is really sociopathy and vice versa' pempathy shit that stav did. He is very confused about himself and which side he is on, so he is trying to be on both.

He worked/works at some mental institution or prison (somewhere he he says 'detention center'), perhaps as a security guard, in a tower that hovers over a bunch of crazies. He is glad of that distance of altitude, and he probably gets off in some way, on being 'above' a psychopath, literally and figuratively, from his tower, officially in control of them with the power to keep them in line, but he also knows that despite all that, the psychopaths have control over him in a more furtive or surreptitious way.

    11. Anon 6:33 "Treat people the way YOU want to be treated"
This is a wonderful idea, but this is a sure fire way to get used and abused over and over again. My mother was a classic martyr. She used to quote this all the time. Everyone would come to her whenever they needed anything. She never really felt able to refuse, since after all, it's a person in need and you wouldn't want to be turned away yourself when the tables were turned. She ended up being well liked, everybody came to her with their problems. She was also a big fan of the 'friend in need is a friend indeed' quote.
She ran herself absolutely ragged and would cry at night because the more she gave, the more people wanted...
Soon enough she realised that she could not satisfy everyone's demands by herself, so she and the rest of the family set out to break me down too. I always has to be 'good', to do everything that people asked of me, even as a small child. My mother would get people asking her for help and then volunteer me for the job without consulting me.
The demands were often unreasonable (eg. family friend's birthday. I had to shop for and make the cake and most of the food. I had to go over and help prepare everything for the guests, then stick around and play waitress. Then I had to do the cleaning up. All for free)
When I refused, I was berated and punished for being a selfish little bitch that nobody will ever love. As I grew older, I was not allowed to have friends or go out. I had to look after the family and family friends and all their needs. I was a melting pot of anger and resentment, but the more I tried to break away, the more I was put down and punished. I ended up breaking away in the end and cutting almost all ties to my past, to my mother's great suffering. Now she had to do it all on her own.
The funniest thing is that when my mother needed anything, everyone was always busy. She never got anything back from these people who she had dedicated her life to serving. They were always too busy, and if she ever insisted, they would start pouting and claiming that she is unreasonable and demanding. She would automatically back off and call me to do all the work.
I had to sacrifice many relationships and opportunities to help her because she was an inconsolable mess. Nobody really did anything for me either. It was never expected of them to do anything nice for me, so they didn't bother. So, to me, that saying is nothing but a martyr's cry. And I hate martyrs.
In an ideal world, treating people as you want them to treat you, will work. In this world, I think treating people the way they treat you is the way to go. I will generally do things for others if there is a direct benefit in there for me. All altruistic acts (such as charity and volunteer work) are purely on my terms.

      Delete
    5. Monica - how did you stay an empath? Don't you get tired of being so "good" and "caring"? Do you really think most people deserve anything good from you?

      Delete
    6. GREAT question. It is sick that I am so good and caring. It is the sickness I had to develop to survive.

      Delete
    7. Monica - you have it in reverse. People will do terrible things that in certain societies, times, etc. were/are considered to be acceptable "good" even. The point is the suicide bomber who kills people is said to be good by certain people. Is he really good? no but certain thinking makes it good to certain people. You will not be able to objectively prove to them it is evil. On the other hand if you have sex with a man before you get married these same people will say you are pure evil. In certain societies you would be killed for it.

The quote is not a justification for doing anything you want it just states the reality of the human condition.

It also speaks to the fact that sometimes being oblivious to some fact (for example if you are dating a murderer) he is not evil in your eyes because you don't know that he killed someone. Once you learn the fact and let's say he killed an innocent person you now would think of him as evil. What's changed? He hasn't..but you thinking about what he did makes him evil in your eyes.

This quote can be analyzed to infinity it contains great depth and truth.

      Delete
    8. Monica - we need to cure you of it here:) really you will be a much happier person once you stop being so nice. Ask yourself why you do it how does it help you survive exactly? Do you like living under the illusion that people are fundamentally good? Do you realize it's an illusion or do you truly believe it?

    10. I think you misunderstand the quote, Monica. And because you don't understand it (or should I say, look at it from a more positive perspective), you deem it as bad. Which only proves the quote is right in what it claims.

The human mind is free to decide whether something is bad or good. Hamlet is a play. Not the law. Lighten up.

Lets take something like your putting your daughters pictures on a sociopath blog. You could justify it with that quote. "There is NO right or wrong" Whatever you think is right or wrong at the moment guides you. You could get your own daughters killed? IS THERE A RIGHT OR WRONG, BIAAATCH?

    13. "While some people try to adapt to their surroundings, others try to adapt their surroundings to themselves"

      I like this Twitter quote.
It's so true. Narcissist do this. Try to force their surroundings to adapt to them, instead of adapting. That is why a narcissist will only ever be as good as the people they surround themselves with. Once they have no one left to carry them though... they can't survive, because they can't adapt.

the only time I feel empathy is for children and dogs so I guess I'm not a true socio lol.

I am just surprised that you don't have a harder exterior shell to protect yourself. You seem very vulnerable and that's not a good thing. People will take advantage of weaker people they will use your empathy against you. Be careful.

      Delete
    32. I will have to explain later, Raven. This whole subject upsets me a lot. I am going to take a break from talking about it, for now.

      Delete
    33. a lack of empathy can be used for good things too. It means someone is less squeamish, able to remain unemotional when faced with possible death of someone else, cool under the pressure of the circumstances.. probably a good thing for surgeons for instance. It would also be good for someone in the military or someone working undercover. For instance if they see violence they would not blow their cover by reacting negatively.

Everything can be used for good or bad and nothing is good or bad..back to my quote lol.

      Delete
    34. I think I can understand why you are upset about this conversation, Monica. You were expecting it to go a different way, didn't you? You expected me to attack you so that you could use me as a punching bag, like always.

But I changed it around, and decided to make it productive for once. I decided to talk it out in a calm and rational manner... and that fucks you up, because even though you claim to be getting better from being at SW, what's keeping you so ill is the fact that you come here seeking a punching bag.

It makes you feel good to punch on me, instead of punching your mom. You get high on your hatred.

But I won't be your punching bag anymore, Monica. I think it's time for you to actually try to resolve your hatred of her. That will benefit you so much more, than using me as a way to hold on to the hurt.

      Delete
    35. Raven - very well said!

Monica - have you ever thought about confronting your mother head on? You're not a child anymore she can't hurt you. You could fight back now. Make her face what a monster she is.

      Delete
    36. You give yourself way too much credit, Raven. You try to twist me around, time and time again, but I have learned that you do things like that because you have no empathy. You think it is fun to try to fuck up Plumbo in the Forum. That is not fun. That is no empathy. If you are the poster boy for no empathy, don't blame me for learning from it.

      Delete
    37. I'm not blaming you for anything. That's the difference between you and me.

      Delete
    38. Raven
I learn from you, both interacting with you and seeing you. That's all. I think I have learned the lessons, as a matter of fact.

      Delete
    39. Monica - you are VERY focused on Raven for some reason..there are plenty of people without empathy they are not all child molestors.

In fact many people without empathy can be very good people much more so than ones with empathy. ex: nazi Germany the whole nation (with some exceptions but not many) helped, allowed, or closed their eyes to the mass murder of their neighbors, including children...some rounded up their neighbors, some actively turned in people in hiding, some simply shut their eyes and did nothing...I'm sure they were not all sociopaths and there were certainly empaths there...maybe some empaths helped their Jewish neighbors but most didn't.

Don't judge people who don't have empathy as pure evil..it's simply not the case. and don't believe that people who are empaths are "good" people they may not be. (ex: the jealous husband who catches his wife cheating and kills her only to cry and miss her later)...

      Delete
    40. Monica, learning a lesson is a very good thing. Knowledge is power, right? You have turn that knowledge into an action for it to be power, though. You have to do something with it.

    47. Don't you get tired of being so "good" and "caring"?

You are mistaken if you think that Monica is nice all the time. She's capable of being a monster herself, by projecting her mother onto others who don't deserve it. It used to be me, then it was Raven.

Everytime you react violently to me or Raven, it's really you reacting violently to your mother, which means she still has a great amount of power over you.

I recall you comparing Medusa to your mother at one time, as well. Your mother must have some excellent qualities about her.

      Why, thank you.

She has good qualities but she should never have been a mother.

There good reason why I am not a mother. I am, however, the best aunt in the world, and this is true. I'm perfect for that role.

Is your mother a good therapist? I think it's possible to be a good therapist yet a horrendous mother. The same detached 'philosophy' that made her a terrible mother can also be a good quality in a therapist.

But if your mother had never been a mother, there would not be a Monica. And isn't it great that there is a Monica? Do you see how you can look at it from many angles. I actually like the world with Monica in it. I don't care to change that. And so I am glad your mother was a mother.

Yes. What's done is done, but you are here, alive.

This is true. True for me as well. It's mutual for all three of us.

Indeed. I like it very much.

Here's a funny quote from 'Clueless', that cracks me up:

Heather: It's just like Hamlet said, "To thine own self be true."

      Cher: Hamlet didn't say that.

Heather: I think I remember Hamlet accurately.

Cher: Well, I remember Mel Gibson accurately, and he didn't say that. That Polonius guy did.

In fact it's kind of a deep movie if you look beneath the surface of course the main character is a super empath but they could have made her a socio just as easily. Imagine the ditzy, blonde girl who everyone always underestimates but underneath it all is very calculating and likes playing mind games with people;) that would be a great movie.

  21. "And tell you what, I’d rather live with souless Chloe (Krysten Ritter) over soulful June (Dreama Walker) anyday. Sure June works hard, pays the rent on time and cooks wonderfully, but so do a lot of people out there. There’s nothing special about her. Junes are a dime a dozen.

Chloe, on the other hand, drinks harder than she works, sabotages the lives of people she loves and steals shamelessly from her best friend James Van Der Beek. James Fucking Van Fucking Der Fucking Beek. He’s Chloe’s best friend on the show and he plays the part of a self-obsessed and slightly self-aware actor brilliantly. While he’s the reason I first starting watching the show, Krysten Ritter’s the reason I continued watching."

You see? People prefer dangerously interesting. Awww... so sorry. :( haha! Let all those soulful people keep the home fires burning.

  22. Haven't read the comments yet, but I've been watching this show and I find it highly annoying. I couldn't figure out what it was until the 4th episode what my problem was. It's the two leads.

Krysten Ritter is annoying as fuck all, it's like her entire personality is in her bangs or something, and she seems to get more and more shrill and bouncy with each episode. She overdoes it. The blonde has all the attributes of fetal alcohol syndrome, although she's not as annoying. I think I'd love this show if it wasn't for them. They are such cliches. Everyone else on the show I really like.

The show is really well written and the jokes are funny, even if the format with the little stylistic asides seems as if they are trying to be Scrubs, even while at the same time it seems to be an old-school sitcom with quasi-moral statements.

  23. Why does Monica hate Raven so much?

Is it because Raven grew up to be the person Monica wishes she was brave enough to be, and doesn't cry herself to sleep over it?

  25. No, I don't think so. I don't think Monica wants to be like Raven, but I do think that maybe she would like to have Raven's perceived self-assurance and thicker skin, and would like to be equal (yet different) in strength.

  27. I wrote the quote you guys think excuses all behavior but that's not what it's about at all...it just states the human condition succinctly..that's all. I don't condone child molestation, or any other horrible crime. I am pointing out that it is the way people digest (aka think) about what they do, others do, consequences, how they are perceived that goes into defining "good" and "bad". It's a fletting concept, something we can debate till eternity.

I don't mean to get too philosophical here but let's look at Raven and Monica for instance.

Monica - I empathize with her childhood..her mother is a monster in my eyes. what sick woman would do this to her child. A woman to a daughter no less...and Monica says she was sadistic....if this is true how horrible. What's amazing is that Monica is still empathetic or believes herself to be....she acts out against Raven and from what I hear Medusa...this is silly Monica. You will get nothing out of this. Confront the real bogeyman your mother let her have it. In fact Monica and I don't mean to be insensetive but "toughen up" you've seen maybe the worst of the worst and you're still Ms. Sensitive? why? haven't you seen enough? don't be a victim don't just lash out at random people...control your anger aim it at where it should go.

Raven- I have so much respect for you. To be accused of child molestation by someone who doesn't know you and be used as a "punching bag" is outrageous..you must be a nice socio because I wouldn't be although I do feel bad for her as a little girl who got abused but still...it's wrong, it's rude and obnoxious.

    Sociopaths can be great moms.
I don't think I am a socio but I do understand certain characteristics. Isn't it possible to lack empathy and still love children. I love all kids. I just hate 99.9% of all adults;)lol

    2. A few things:
To the anonymous who asked why Monica hates me. I don't believe she does, and Medusa is right... she doesn't want to be like me.

To the anonymous who said I handled myself well today. Thank you. I have my reasons for why I aim to change a few things, and they have nothing to do with being in love (Medusa, please don't assume you know why I chose to be "nicer". You don't).

To the anonymous who left the quote in the first place: Medusa is right again. I do project my sister on to Monica, and I have enjoyed pushing her buttons, but one of us has to end it, and I'm going to be the one who sticks to that ending. I no longer have use for her.

Medusa, I have tried to walk away form Monica plenty of times. Weeks will go by, and she will continue to bait me, and project her mother on me, and project me on all of the anons, though I'm not even talking to her anymore. It's my own stupidity that causes me to give in, and react to her. For that I take responsibility. But I have not been playing the anon game with her, and will not be lumped into that level of stupidity.

This is only my opinion, but I think it's easy for you to dive in and play mediator, now that she idealizes you. Which is also a mistake for her to do. I may be wrong about that, but it's how I perceive it from where I stand.

As for the quote itself. I love Shakespeare. I have his entire collection. What started as a wonderful gesture by anonymous, quickly turned into something so far off from where it started, it's really, kind of unbelievable to me. No one wants to be compared to a child molesters. Even child molesters don't. Enough said about that.

Whatever other people may use the quote for, is not my concern. It's still a lovely quote, and I appreciate the consideration.
So I apologize to the anonymous poster who put it up for me. You don't have to defend it. The ugliness that followed had nothing to do with the quote. :)

    3. Medusa, please don't assume you know why I chose to be "nicer". You don't

Heh. You're not immune to my goading, you know. I know it's not just that; I know you are going for a bigger thing.

This is only my opinion, but I think it's easy for you to dive in and play mediator, now that she idealizes you.

Yes, it is easy for me to play mediator, because I'm no longer involved in this dynamic, and have no bias one way or the other. That's a requirement for a mediator. Now, you can argue that my 'playing moderator' at all shows my own arrogance, and you may be right, but that's a separate issue.

She did idealize me way back when, when I briefly would stop being a "Mal N" in her eyes by being nice for a second, yet that was mitigated by her idealizing me in an opposite, inverse way... the epitome of evil.

I don't think that she idealizes me now, but I'm not sure.

    4. I've never believed for second that I'm immune to any sort of goading by you. I think I have a pretty realistic grasp on your SW character. But for once you're wrong about why I'm doing, what I'm doing, and I'm politely asking for you to butt out.

Something new has developed just recently, and I'm sniffing out reactions towards me, so I can see who the culprit is. I also want said culprit to know that their attempt was a fail, and produced the opposite reaction of what they were aiming for. I'm not leaving SW, and I have nothing to hide.

Do what you want with that, Medusa... I'm done with this conversation. I still have shit to do today.

    5. Um, I never said anything about what you're doing, nor did I say anything about why you are doing whatever it is you are doing. You are arguing with yourself here, or your own imagination. And getting defensive.

As to the rest, you seem to often have a vengeful desire to prove something about yourself to people who you think are doing you wrong or who you think are idiots.

And that last bit sounds like you are trying to prove to someone that you suddenly have a life or that you think it is more exciting than anyone else's here could possibly be. How very FalterEgo of you.

Normally you wouldn't taken it so personally, and you would have just laughed at it. Usually you love that shit and play off it. Instead, you are "whatever"ing the stuff that is not a joke.

I used to be the type to keep my mouth shut when I see or hear something I have thoughts about, and it would take effort to force myself to want to say something, but now it's the opposite. It's a balance adjustment, I suppose.

And it seems I get more arrogant this time of year, I'm noticing. I think that blotter had something to do with it, too, because my brain has been feeling all kinds of weird ever since. And I'm finding out that I think I have a severe food allergy, which is also affecting my mind.

After Raven got all Plumbo's personal information, Raven put all the girl's personal info up on SW. The girl was begging for the sake of her children, her personal life etc. Raven was laughing and finding her distress hilarious. What do you call that, if not little empathy?

    15. I never once played friends with her. I called her a liar and that drove her crazy. Her vanity wouldn't stand for it, so she started emailing me of her own accord. I never asked her to contact me.
She emailed me for 3 days, telling me how much it was driving her crazy not to be able to give her info, so she could prove herself.

I asked her why she was emailing me, but not posting on the forum. She told me her husband found out about her posting, and she was no longer to post.

She told me it was driving her crazy to be lurking the forum, and not be able to comment. So I posted a thread in the forum to taunt her with... you know, for her to have to see this post with her name on it, but not be able to say anything since she was grounded.

You can go to the thread. I said exactly that on my first entry. That I put it up to tease her with, knowing she couldn't post.
Medusa thought I was just having a manic fit, so I told her that Plumbo had been emailing me.

Medusa asked if I could post her email, and I did.
Medusa then found all her info, and posted it. Plumbo then threatened me with the cops if I didn't take down her info. I told her she would have to talk to Medusa about that.

Then I enjoyed watching and participating, as it unfolded from there.
She was never tricked. And I never asked her to email me. She took a risk to save her ego... and she paid the price.

Try to dispute it. The evidence is still on the the forum. If you want to take shots at me, be my guest... but don't change the entire story just to suite your case against me. Your memory clearly can't compete with mine.

  29. So let's get back to my quote "there is nothing good or bad, but thinking makes it so". The truth is I've been a very moral person. I have VERY clear standards of what is good and bad. I was an empath. I always gave people benefit of the doubt. Things could have been very different for me but then I met "someone" who was very interesting;) I fell in "love" lol. what happens when you fall in love with a beautiful, mean, selfish, doesn't care about anyone or anything, logical, smart, person (sociopath). You realize that you are the victim but you love your master..and then the lines get blury..what's good or bad. why do I give people the benefit of doubt? Amazing thing is that everything clicked into place. Now I get it..;) things are easy. There was always a question I had in the back of my mind..but now I get it. I haven't seen him in years but we have chatted online since we've both been married to other people. I realize my initial instinct was right and people don't change..but maybe I did maybe I was similar to him all along but tried to be something else..I don't know.

  30. Raven @8:38 am,

Morons try to adapt. Smart people make others adapt. Probably this is kind of hard to see for a hair-dresser who counts on the tips of these so called 'narcissists.'

So, yes, keep trying to adapt to your customers' needs because otherwise you're not going to have many left.

Oh, wait, did you tell the other day that you challenged a customer? Oh, that 'narcissist' in you must have slipped out. WIth every low-tipping customer you must be dreaming of the day you'll slit her neck. Tell us what you expect, so you don't slit our neck one day.

    6. And I was replying to this:

Morons try to adapt. Smart people make others adapt.

Both morons and smart people will do both -- try to adapt themselves to the world or their world to them, depending. If you only do one or the other, out of principal, you are a fool.

So that's why I said sociopaths vs narcissists, instead of morons vs smart people.

      Delete
    7. Socios do BOTH... They're ultimate dream is to adapt the world to them but they play along and adapt to the world until they can figure out a way to turn it around, stepping out of line as much as possible while trying to stay in the bigger boundaries in order to reform the world to their preferred shape as best they can.

      Delete
    8. Now you are just backtracking.

Smart people do both. Same with non-sociopaths.

Just because a person is a sociopath doesn't mean they are able to get to a place where they can get the world to adapt to them. If they are smart, then maybe. Otherwise, they generally won't plan ahead that far.

Quit idealizing people, whether it is in a good way or bad. Black and white thinking like that is for people who can't deal with life without limits placed on them.

For example, if a tragedy happens, she won't feel the shock, fear, grief etc. However, she can't look as if she feels nothing as people will look at her as if she is strange. She has to practice expressions of sadness, grief and even can cry on command. Do you have this?
