Book responses (part 7)

From a reader:

I just started reading your book. It's got me envious of sociopaths. Your description of yourself and others of your ruthless ilk (that I've read so far) has me thinking you may actually be the healthiest and happiest -- or at least the least unhappy -- people around. As one who is subject to a host of conventional guilts and cares, I imagine a world where sociopathy is the norm and everyone is blithely, uncaringly, and honestly self-seeking, and I can only sigh at the vision. Perhaps the Golden Rule, that most pragmatic interpretation of self-interest, would actually be the guiding moral principle in that world.

Another reader:

I "managed" to get a copy of your book. Thank You. If you had chosen not to reveal yourself in such a manner, I may have never figured out what's so....."wrong"( I would call it right) with me. Many years have been spent trying to diagnose me, but seeing i wont be truthful to them, my motivation, as well as some incriminating experiences,I fail to see how they could diagnose me right. Your book opened my eyes. Like staring at myself, if things had gone differently. I am a disempathetic sociopath .If you were curious to know why i took time out of my day to thank you. In all honesty... I'm bored (people here cant keep up, intellectually).

Another reader:

Hey, you were on TV! That was one of the most pathetic performances I have ever seen. You're trying too hard, as narcissists typically do. A loser, maybe, but definitely not a sociopath like you claim. The best thing to do would be to shut down the blog and leave with your dignity, while you still have some respect. - Chet

  3. I don't see how she could be faking it. I mean I identify so perfectly with so much that she says, things that I never dreamed anyone else would even think. I haven't seen her on TV, but I assume that she would feel obligated to act like a sociopath, and that's hard to do, it's like painting a blank canvas. Or I guess you could go for the Joker type sociopath; that would make for some really interesting television. Honestly, it doesn't really matter wether she's a sociopath or narcissist, because if she's helping people like me understand themselves, I think it's all for the best. Funny thing though, and I'm not saying I think she is a narcissist, but you know how the narcissist supposedly says "I'm not like the wolf, I hate wolves, I'm a sheep," she does say she hates narcissists, and calls herself a sociopath. I don't really know what I think. I don't know if it really even matters. Don't listen to Chet though, I don't see why anyone should take it into their own hands to tell people to stop doing things, when they could be doing things themselves instead.

    2. Dear annonymous, I highly doubt she will "listen to Chet."

She marches to the beat of her own drum and doesn't care what anyone thinks. If she did care she wouldn't be a sociopath. :/

  4. The Golden Rule certainly applies to some extent, but it's more a thin coat of paint over the more important rule, which is every man for himself.

A world of sociopaths would suck. I rely on the goodwill of others in order to succeed, and I can't afford to be looking over my shoulder or questioning the intentions of everyone around me.

The improper capitalization, spelling, and punctuation of the second one leads me to believe he thinks he's much smarter than he really is. He's likely of average intelligence, but his narcissism requires him to delude himself so he can engage in self-love. I could say the same thing about myself, but at worst I'm well above average.

Chet is so adorable, have you seen her, M.E.? Getting insulted by her is like having bags of multicolored marshmallows gently tossed at you. Delightful!

    1. You're a moron. If you were what you claim to be and still wrote what you just did, you would follow up by hanging yourself from a beam with cold ruthless calm. Jesus, Fuck! What a moron ...

    2. Are you the one who wrote the second review? The use of period chains, and your excessive emotional reaction to what I wrote indicate this is a possibility.

It's okay, though, you're not a sociopath my friend! I would suggest you channel your narcissistic rage elsewhere, though, as you're only proving that my initial assessment is accurate.

      Delete
    3. Glass, I didn't write that. M.E. I don't know whether or not you are a sociopath, obviously. But please keep this blog! I've made friends here. I like friends. Although it's evident by the fake letter "from me" I've made enemies as well.

      Delete
    4. Yes, I saw your post. If M.E. was anything but amused by the comment, though, I doubt she would have posted it. I wouldn't say you have enemies, but are you very surprised that someone is playing a game with you as a pawn?

At worst I called you adorable, whereas Monica shows her true colors. How are you and Inky getting along?

      Delete
    5. I'm a little surprised. I'm been fairly passive lately with my posts. I just don't want M.E. thinking I'd like for her to delete this blog. I'd hate to see that happen. Do you believe me?

Monica is M.E.'s bitch, that's why.

      Fine?

    6. I believe you, and I obviously trust you. There are interesting people here, and I'd be disappointed if M.E. decided to shut down the site. It's good to find people willing to explore the darkness that lurks within them without wallowing in it.

Anyways, the best insults always ring true, and the fake Chet ones up there are empty, which is why I didn't doubt they came from you. You don't have a mean bone in your body, unless you find yourself a mean boyfriend of course ;)

      Delete
    7. I suppose it's good that M.E. interacts with her followers enough to choose me specifically to ostracize. She must read the forums regularly to know which member is hated the most. It makes her more real that she is buddies with some of the trolls.

      Delete
    8. Maybe you'll believe me, maybe you won't, but I can relate to you. I still think the world is out to get me and everyone hates me, and sometimes I just want to crawl into a hole and die. I haven't yet, though, and I don't know whether it's because I'm too strong or too weak.

You're awesome, Chet, don't ever forget that. And besides, if you haven't noticed you're getting props from people in the comments section even though you didn't write what M.E. posted. You have been quite passive, but the way people respond to "your" criticisms above indicates that people like and respect you, and you could afford to be bolder.

    9. come now andy, not everyone hates you. your one of my favorites on this blog. and chet, i genuinely dont care either way whether you wrote that letter or not but props either way. and i dont feel that your the most hated member of the site, i for one dislike monica the most. for a wide variety of reasons

  5. This is my opinion when Chet insults ME. What has Chet done with her life? Little to nothing( not to be mean) but it is true.

ME excelled in everything from musician to lawyer, including this blog. Dr Phil was a mistake. That was because DR Phil is a self righteous horse's ass who cares about trying to humiliate anyone he can for ratings. He did not care for the content one whit. It was all about trying to see who had the power and it was his show, so it was close to impossible to best him.

That was a bad venue for ME's book and there was little she could do as it was DR Phil's home base. She should ruin him~

PBS would have been a better venue but that could not be known until it was experienced, obviously.

At any rate, I see it myself with my small degree of success. You are hated and taken shots at by people who could never do what you did. It is actually a compliment and I laugh now, but I had to learn this maxim.

  7. The thing is that ME is behind the eyes of a sociopath. The others are not written by sociopaths. Dr Phil did not see that contribution and that is what her UNIQUE contribution is. Martha Stout nor the other authors of contemporary books are sociopaths. They write from an outside perspective which may offer things and do, but are not behind the EYES of a sociopath.

    5. A sociopath is just an average jerk who believes being special, not someone special. It is funny as most human particularities are, and the behavior has to be confronted because they damage others, that's all. Don't mix the fascination of a story with the uniqueness of the characters.

    8. Okay. But you could have insulted the writer without insulting me, if you "knew I didn't write it", as you've said. I'm inclined not to believe you. Get a mind of your own, Monica. That's something both M.E. and I have on you.

  13. M.E. is in some shit right now, given her comments about BYU on Psychology Today or whatever. It's surprising that she has the time to put anything up here. I think that the past couple weeks have been very interesting for her, and we'll get a good reveal soon. She can't let the tension build forever, or she'll burst!

Dr. Phil was interesting only because so many people let him spoon-feed them his thoughts. I haven't yet decided whether most people won't think for themselves, or they simply can't. I'm leaning towards the latter.

  14. I liked the book very much and know that it takes a lot of courage and insight to reveal ones inner workings.
Extremely interesting for me was to see the cosmological /philosophical perspective the author shared.I'm amazed that someone with an obviously superior intellect would adhere to small minded parochial perspectives; but then that is the conundrum of the psyche.
The reference to Buddhism displayed zero understanding . The cited references to genetic studies are all inside the old and worn out paradigm - if interested read,"Science Set Free", by Rupert Sheldrake.
There is a desire for acceptance and understanding, it could've been titled,"Kiss Me , I'm A Sociopath"

  16. The sole idea (apparently shared by many) of feeling some respect for ME depending on her being a badass or a "real" sociopath or not makes me feel that so many people out there keep getting everything wrong. That's so not the point...You will excuse my eastern stupidity but it just seems that all good things in America are bound to be misread, misinterpreted or quickly infantilized whenever they reach the people on a big scale.

    1. I can see that you posted words, and I know what all the words mean, but I cannot for the life of me figure out what you're trying to say. Let me try to boil it down without unnecessary modifiers.

The idea of feeling respect for ME based on whether or not she is a sociopath is wrong. Americans tend to misinterpret everything that reaches a large audience.

So, we should judge ME on what we know about her, and her posts, and not on labels that can never completely describe anyone? Also, the public tends to see everything as black or white, good or bad, and cannot accept the fact that everything is really shades of grey?

  18. I just finished reading your book. You say you have never been 'violent.' What do you think 'destroying peoples' lives is?" Many 'empaths' would prefer you to chop off their hands rather than have their lives destroyed.

It is absurd to advocate acceptance of psychopaths similar to how society is accepting homosexuals. Homosexuals don't destroy peoples' lives and then brag about it.

You compare a psychopath's love to a child's love and then describe what you think is a child's love. The behavior you describe as a child's 'love' is a child making sure the person (people) they depend on for their very existence stay there. Children don't 'love.' They don't know how because they haven't had enough experience. Neither do you, and sadly, YOU never will.

  19. I have not read your book, but have read enough diaries that I am sure would word for word be identical to your book. Those are the diaries of people discussing their thoughts while taking serotonergic medications such as antidepressants and the newer atypical antipsychotics. That is where the murderous thoughts and total lack of feelings and remorse come from.

The use of these drugs is very high within the LDS church - with Forbes publishing an article within the past couple of months indicating the Utah LDS members as the highest users of antidepressants in all Christian churches. This is something I have been attempting to warn Utah LDS members of for over two decades. All the while in horror I have watched the changes come within the church as it was quite clear they would with so many members buying into the serotonin lies that accompany these drugs.

When you read the research indicating that the hypothesis behind these drugs is absolutely backwards what was to come as a result of impairing one's ability to metabolize serotonin was clear. So far nothing has really surprised me other than how difficult it has been to get the truth out to those being so adversely affected. It amazes me the deafening silence $$$$ can buy! In 1999 I did the Lisa Gibbons Show on the high numbers mothers on antidepressants killing their children. We were told as we stepped onto the stage to do the show that we could say the word "antidepressant" but we could not say the brand names of the medications "because of our advertisers." So all anyone needs to do is to watch the drug advertising on a station or in a publication to know whether or not they will get the truth about these deadly drugs that have literally created a world of sociopaths.

In saying that I do not mean that there is no hope once these drugs have taken their toll on one's serotonergic metabolism either via your own use or your exposure within the womb from the use of your mother during pregnancy. I do believe it can be turned around, but it does take time and effort to do so. And after helping those withdrawing from these drugs over the past two decades I will say that the FDA warning about ANY abrupt change in dose of an antidepressant (whether increasing the dose or decreasing) can produce suicide, hostility or psychosis is EXACTLY correct! You have to know what you are doing to come down safely off any of these drugs and far too many professionals have no clue how slowly that must be done to prevent the suicide, hostility or psychosis! Many helps can be found on our website for the International Coalition for Drug Awareness at www.drugawareness.org. And our database of cases at www.ssristories.drugawareness.org will show you how many others have had the same reactions and acted upon them.

So in conclusion I am saying that I will take bets that your "sociopathic disorder" is iatrogenic - caused by the medical treatment you have received.
