Murderous nature

Mother nature is From a reader:

Some birds have evolved such that their chicks will, as the first act of their life, murder their foster siblings.

Caught on film:

Obvious questions:
Are the chicks evil? Do they have free will, mens rea, etc?

If there is a God, we should do a class action suit against him.

See also these comments on the recent Walking Dead episode (spoilers). When is killing wrong and when is it right? And who decides, based on what subjective perception of the world?

    1. Certainly individuals can rationalize it to themselves, but society also plays a role. They can impose their mores on you regardless of your rationalization.

    2. If someone does a terrible act, which is worse? The person justifying it, or society justifying it?

    3. What matters is whether society is going to lynch you for it.

  2. It's pretty sad how some of the Koreans are eating their own children, due to famine.

I reckon that an ASPD would have no qualms about eating its own children.

    1. Waiting 9-months - one person eating more for 9-months - for just one meal is a ridiculous investment.

  5. Jesus Christ, and God The Father created the world in 6 days.
"A day with God is like a thousand years." Therefore, it took
6,000 years to create the Earth. This was not the first attempt
however. It says in the Bible: "In the beginning God created the
Heaven and the Earth. And the world BECAME without void.
Even the recorded "beginning," has a starting point in time.
There appears to have been some "prior" creation process that
    was "junked."
God has a predestined plan for mankind. In the meantime, humans
ARE governed by an "Evolutionary type of psychology," that insures
"survival of the fittest." This is because God works from a
preordained timetable, and needs many generations of humans
    to fill His "mansions."
M.E. is quite correct. She WILL one day be a creator of worlds.
But it's not necessary to belong to any worldly denomination
to obtain this "prividlege." It is the ultimate destiny of ALL humans,
    including M.E.'s Downs Symdrome realitives.
I love M.E. very much. Just as I love Casey Anthony. Today IS her
    28th birthday!

  7. Question for M.E.: Knowing what you now know about yourself, how would you design a course of therapy for psychopaths? How would the therapy change according to the age of patient?

    2. not even sure teaching empathy would/should be the goal. that's why i'm wondering how a psychopath would design his or her own therapy.

    3. I wish someone had taught me how to identify unhelpful behaviors and modify them. If I had had a bit of help with the insight, I could have done the rest.

Identifying unhelpful behaviors would have meant training me to pay attention to how I was perceived by others, and to make rational choices to get better outcomes.

  8. Speaking of nothing being so bad that it can't be justified...

Has anyone been following the aftermath of the suicide of designer L'Wren Scott? It's an interesting example of how psychopaths do damage limitation. Mick Jagger's PR machine has been rolled out, UK Daily Mail drip feeding its readers 'poor grieving Mick' stories, reporting his denials that he had recently dumped her etc. On his website he says he is struggling to come to terms with it as if he had no idea she was in trouble.

But four days before the death, the following appeared on Cdan blog:

She is not dead, or at least don't think she is dead. I think people would say something if she died although she has disappeared from the face of the earth and no one is saying much of anything right now. She is a C list celebrity but is A list in her own little corner of the celebrity world. Her boyfriend is a permanent A lister and has been cheating on her almost everyday for the past month which also adds fuel to the fire. They used to be inseparable. Now they are not only separated but he is having his way with groupies and celebrities and other people taller than him. There are reports she had a breakdown because he was cheating on her. She canceled a hug event she was working on and has retreated into a hospital to get help although some people say she is hiding out at her home with medical professionals. You would think people would be talking by now but just the whispers getting louder. I think when her boyfriend gets back home the whispering will be much louder.

So the dogs in the street knew but Jagger, who had been 'dating' her for 13 years (what a tosser) had no idea. Pull the other one. Psychopath at work.

    1. Its not his fault shes too stupid to leave a bad relationship.

    2. Yeah, she fell for his con alright, all those 'I love yous'. But I don't think that's any indication of stupidity. Decent people see decency in everyone - like lambs to the slaughter - until they become acquainted with a psychopath user-loser.

  9. It is a socially imposed taboo, but only in some circumstances. We don't (or, most of society doesn't) condemn soldiers and police when they kill in the line of duty, or individuals when they kill in self defense. Most people would never kill an animal, but will happily gobble down a burger. They outsource it.

I can understand moral arguments about why murder is wrong, but I've never felt it. I can't imagine actually caring unless the victim was someone close to me.

  10. Small children often kill pets due to not understanding what happens when the hamster gets flushed down the toilet, are they Satans Wicked Seeds for doing so? Or are they innocent like angels? Then decide what "lower" lifeforms without much intelligence involved as a part of their survival scheme and judge them a little less hard than the first demonic culprit/angel: whats the verdict..?

  11. When is killing wrong and when is it right? And who decides, based on what subjective perception of the world?

Killing is right when there are personal consequences that are acceptable to the one doing the killing. It is wrong when the consequences are unacceptable. From what I've seen (watching an abundance of true crime documentaries), non-sociopathic individuals commonly express remorse and guilt about killing, which leads them to confess. Sociopathic individuals have a calm, cool demeanor about them.

We had discussions previously about what proportion of murders are committed by sociopaths. Upon reflection, the majority of murderers who kill a family member display sociopathic traits. Many of them are not caught for years, and they calmly pick up their lives and carry on living as if nothing had happened.

Not all sociopaths are murderers, but every murderer who calmly carries on with their lives is a sociopath. And if they get away with it, who's to say they've done something wrong? If their subjective experience of reality has not been negatively affected by killing someone, or if it's been improved, then they did something right, at least for themselves.

    1. Isn´t there a "man-made obstacle" against killing called the Law? If the Law says no, isn´t this the same thing as if there was a christian God hurling lightning from above at the culprit..?

      Delete
    2. Don't get caught. The "Law" is fallible. It's not all-seeing and omnipotent. If it were, everyone driving 1 mph over the speed limit would be ticketed.

  12. So basic, but f word psichos try to philosophy about it. Kill is wrong. That's all, sick evil ones.

  13. Your message is lost in grammatical and spelling errors. Does it frighten you to think your god could be so cruel to release the "sick, evil one's?" Or is it your own personal demons that make you spurt such ignorance. Perhaps you are the evil one?
